Borough Honors DPW for 'Amazing' Superstorm Sandy Clean-Up

In an installment in a series of “thank yous” Ramsey has handed out over the past several months to Superstorm Sandy first responders, Mayor Chris Botta and members of the borough council presented employees of the Ramsey Department of Public Works with certificates of recognition during a meeting Wednesday night. The certificates recognized DPW workers for “going above and beyond the call of duty,” when clearing trees and brush from roadways for emergency responders, utility crews, and residents, officials said.

The certificates presented are “a small token,” Botta told DPW workers Wednesday. “But, we just want you all to know how grateful we are for the work you do, not just during the storm, but everyday…what you do reflects on our community.”

Councilman Harry Weber called the department’s clean-up efforts after Sandy “amazing.”

“No matter where I went [after Sandy], you guys were around every corner,” Weber said. “You were like a well-oiled machine. You’d think you [respond to catastrophes] everyday.”

The DPW recognition is the latest in a series the borough has given out to the police department, fire department, , and other emergency responders for their work before, during, and after Sandy.
