Charity 'Boston Burger' Available At Ramey Restaurant

Garden Staters have Jersey pride, but now through Friday, one borough restaurant will be changing the name of one of its Jersey burgers as a way to show the state’s solidarity with Boston.

Smashburger, which has 13 locations in Northern NJ – including one on Route 17 North in Ramsey – will temporarily change the name of its “New Jersey Burger” to the “Boston Burger,” as a way to raise money for the city still reeling from terrorist bombings last month.

From May 1 – 3, the name of the burger will be changed, and $1 from every Boston Burger sold will be donated to the Boston One Fund.

The fund, set up by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino provides donated money to the families most affected by the Boston Marathon bombing. So far, over $20.8M has been donated to the fund.

“In light of the terrible tragedy that took place during the Boston Marathon, we wanted to show our support for the families of those who died and were severely injured.” Mascott Corporation CEO Scott Gillman said in a release.  Mascott owns the North Jersey Smashburgers.

“For many of the injured, the road to recovery will be long, so we wanted to show that they remain in the thoughts of New Jerseyans statewide.”
