Drop Off Unwanted Medications At Ramsey PD Saturday

RAMSEY, N.J. — The police department will accept unwanted prescription pills during Operation Take Back Saturday.

Pills and patches can be dropped off at the police station at 21 North Central Ave. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Liquids or needles will not be accepted.

The service is free. Medications may be dropped off anonymously.

Local police departments and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency sponsor the program in an effort to end prescription drug abuse.

Last September, Americans turned in more than 700,000 pounds of prescription drugs at more than 5,000 sites operated by the DEA and more than 3,800 of its state and local law enforcement partners.

Overall, in its 10 previous Take Back events, DEA and its partners have taken in over 5.5 million pounds — more than 2,750 tons — of pills.
