Youngest Franchisees In Company Open New Ramsey Five Guys
Location on Route 17 officially opened Monday
The highly anticipated new Five Guys Burgers and Fries location on Route 17 in Ramsey is now open.
The restaurant, located inside Ramsey Square, is owned by partners Patrick Sheridan and Joon Sung. The owners said they are the youngest franchisees in the entire company. “We are very fortunate to have support from our fathers to do this,” Sheridan said. “But, we handle all of the operational side of things.”
Sung, originally from Virginia, grew up in a family that owned Subway and Blimpie locations. “Five Guys originated in Virginia, and I loved it. There was opportunity to expand the brand in New Jersey, so I came up here,” he said. His family owns five Bergen County locations.

Sheridan didn’t have the history of owning franchises in his family, but said he always wanted to go into the restaurant business. He and his father loved Five Guys, and decided to open two of them in Essex County.
Sheridan and Sung did not know each other before partnering for the new Ramsey location. “We met working on opening this store together,” Sheridan said. “It worked out, and turned into a really good partnership.”

The one thing they both had in common, was a love for Five Guys.
“I love the product,” Sheridan said. “It’s simple, and we serve a really great product.”
“It’s all about freshness,” Sung added. “We cut the potatoes and form the patties every morning. Like it is simply stated in our name, burgers and fries, that’s really what we focus on.”
The two also said they are excited to open the location in Ramsey. The number of residents in the borough and in surrounding towns, number of businesses in the area, and location on 17 all made opening in Ramsey attractive, they said.
“We are so excited to be here; we love the town,” Sheridan said. “We already have had a bunch of families and school kids coming in here, which is wonderful. We hope that everyone in town will stop in and try us out.”
