Girls On The Run Looking For Spring 5K Participants
Girls on the Run's new Bergen County Chapter is hosting an Open House this Wednesday
The new Bergen County chapter of Girls on the Run, which meets in Ramsey, is already full for its inaugural spring season. This Wednesday, girls and their families can learn about how to join up for the spring session.
Girls on the Run is a non-profit youth development program for girls, to Ramsey. The program, which runs for 12-week segments in the fall and spring, pairs volunteer coaches with pre-teen girls. Coaches lead the girls through physical, social, emotional and mental development while training them to participate in a 5K.
“It’s just a really positive girl program,” Terri Peri, one of the five volunteer coaches in Ramsey, said. “You empower these girls to accomplish something they never have before, and you see the change in them happen so quickly. It’s amazing.”
