Historian Craig Long to Lecture on the Ramapo River

The Mahwah Museum will host a lecture by Rockland County Historian Craig Long about the history of the Rampo River. The lecture will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Ramapo Reformed Church, located at 100 Island Road in Mahwah. Admission is $3 for non-members, free for members, and refreshments will be served.

Craig Long, the historian for the Village of Suffern, Montebello and the town of Ramapo, will describe the origin of the Ramapo River in the town of Monroe, New York, and trace its flow through New York State and into Mahwah, and points south. He will also include a discussion of various floods along the banks of the Ramapo River. Reservations are suggested; to reserve contact lectures@mahwahmuseum.org.

The Mahwah Museum located at 201 Franklin Turnpike, is open on Wednesdays and weekends from 1-4 p.m. and is featuring the exhibit “Neighborhoods of Mahwah: 1913-2013” and “Les Paul in Mahwah.” The Donald Cooper Model Railroad is open weekends from 1-4 p.m. Admission to the Museum is $5 for non-members, free to members and children.
