Improve Hearing With Nutrition

Nutritional imbalances are believed to be a causative factor in hearing loss.

The nutrients that are believed to be beneficial for protecting and improving hearing are; astaxanthin, vitamin A, folate, zinc and magnesium.

1. Turn down the volume on all personal audio devices

2. Get a decibel meter app for your smartphone, which will flash a warning if you are exposed to sound of a potentially damaging level.

3. Wear earplugs when you visit noisy events.

4. If you work in a noisy environment, be sure to wear ear protection at all times.

5. Limit the amount of time you spend engaged in noisy activities.

6. Restrict the daily use of personal audio devices to less than one hour.

7. Consider adding acoustical tile to your ceiling and walls to absorb sound energy.

8. Double-paneled windows, insulation, heavy curtains and rugs, can also help reduce noise levels.

9. Also wear ear protection when using your lawnmower, snow blower or leaf blower.

Even if you've already lost some degree of hearing, you may be able to recover some of it by optimizing your intake of carotenoids, especially astaxanthin, vitamin A, folate, zinc and magnesium.
