Man Makes Off With Dunkin Donuts Tip Jar, Police Say

Cops arrest alleged thief, who only got away with about $20

A man who allegedly tried to take money from the Route 17 Dunkin Donuts in Ramsey only made off with about $20 in a tip jar, Ramsey Police Chief Bryan Gurney said.

Richard Coquel, 33, of Park Ridge, was arrested this week after allegedly stealing a tip jar from the D&D at about 2:30 a.m. Sept. 7, Gurney said.

Coquel “apparently walked in, and asked for cash. He ended up just taking the [tip] jar and [running out],” Gurney said.

The alleged robber was not armed, had no “physical contact” with anyone else in the eatery, and no one was injured as a result of this incident, Gurney said.

Through an investigation, Ramsey Officer Michael Parise was able to identify and arrest Coquel several weeks after the crime, Gurney said.
