Woman Fatally Struck By Train Near Ramsey Station
Several streets are closed in the area, police said.

RAMSEY, N.J. — Service on NJ Transit's Main Bergen-Port Jervis line was suspended for about two hours Friday afternoon between Waldwick and Suffern, New York, due to a woman being struck near the Ramsey Route 17 station, authorities confirmed.
At approximately 3:24 p.m., the Main Bergen line train No. 99 fatally struck an adult female trespasser near Main Street in Ramsey, said Jim Smith, an NJ Transit spokesman.
The train departed out of Hoboken and was heading toward Port Jervis when the crash occurred, Smith said.

None of the 500 passengers or crew on the train were injured, Smith said.
Smith did not know the woman's identity, nor did he know if the passengers were being provided an alternate means of transportation.

Ramsey police said in an emergency Nixle message that East Main Street at Church Street, West Main Street at North Central Avenue and North Central Avenue at Gertzen Plaza would be closed until fruther notice.
