One of the Next Genetically Engineered Threats are Mosquitoes
We may be only 10 to 15 years away from releasing these GE mosquitoes into the environment, with unknown consequences.

Genetically engineered salmon are a reality. If they ever get into the wild, they may be able to breed with wild caught salmon and permanently contaminate the wild salmon gene pool. We are told that wouldn’t occur, because GM salmon are sterile. That may or may not be the case.
Now, scientists have created genetically engineered mosquitoes that are supposedly resistant to the parasite that causes malaria. These scientists want to release fertile genetically engineered mosquitoes into the wild.
The researchers believe this could theoretically stop mosquitoes from transmitting malaria to humans and ultimately eliminate malaria. That sounds great in theory, but what will be the real world environmental consequences?
