PHOTOS: Ramsey Drama Club is 'Crazy for You'

The Ramsey High School Drama Club is fresh off its live performances of ‘Crazy for You,’ a Gershwin musical set in the 1930’s.

A release from RHS explains the show, and highlights the talented performers who starred in the show last weekend.

The musical has been an instant hit since its opening as a new Gershwin musical on Broadway in 1992, winning that year’s Tony Award for Best Musical and lighting up the stage for 1,622 performances. The show’s breathtaking score preserves the best of the original numbers from Gershwin’s 1930 smash Girl Crazy (among them: “I’ve Got Rhythm,” “Nice Work if You Can Get It,” “Shall We Dance” “Embraceable You”, and “They Can’t Take That Away From Me”), adds several of their later songs from Fred Astaire films (such as “Someone to Watch Over Me,”) and adds some undiscovered Gershwin gems (“Naughty Baby”).

For the Ramsey production Alex Albanese is Bobby Child, the stage struck wanna-be hoofer obsessed with show business, and Kristina Walz is Polly Baker, the feisty tomboy who is the focus of Bobby’s infatuation. Broadway impresario and pushy producer Bela Zangler is played by Alex Zammitti.

Greg Argenio is the hero’s adversary and local saloon keeper Lank Hawkins and Ciara Bosh is Irene Roth, Bobby’s abrasive and aggressive fiancée.  Mrs. Lottie Child, Bobby’s disapproving mother, is portrayed by Grace Turso, and Eric March plays Everett Baker, Polly’s extremely laidback father.

Eileen O’Connor plays Tess, the strong willed leader of the Zangler Follies Girls, who arrive in Nevada to help Bobby. Erin O’Connor is Patsy, her not-so bright friend, and Caity McHale is Mitzi, another of Bobby’s showbiz friends. Larissa Rosa and John Iaccarino appear as British tourists Patricia and Eugene, and Tommy Barbara, Joshua Bialkin and Nicolas Venturini wander around town as the Cowboy Trio.

The singing and dancing Follies girls are being played by Logan Barone, Nicole Borbone, Kierra Jordan, Kasey Kelly, Quincy Kersbergen, Caity McHale, Kate Miller, Eileen O’Connor, Erin O’Connor, Erin Scherba, Tori Stitz, Hannah Tokish, and Abby Zammitti. Rounding out the Girls chorus are Gabby Daniels, Athena Davis, Jordan Fazio, Sydney Levine, Anna Klein, Jenny Monteith, Larissa Rosa, Charlie Tupp-Adams, and Briana VanDyke.

Playing the lethargic but suddenly song and dance cowboys of Deadrock are Tommy Barbara, Joshua Bialkin, Stephen Colletti, John Iaccarino, Eugene Romanchuk, Nicholas Schifano and Nicholas Venturini.
