Police Warn Against Rav4 Part Thefts

Similar style thefts happen at the end of each summer, officials say

Owners of Toyota Rav 4’s should take extra care when parking their cars around Ramsey, borough police warned via a tweet last week.

According to Chief Bryan Gurney, the spare tire wheel covers from at least two parked Rav 4 vehicles have recently been reported stolen.

“It seems like every year around this time, we have something like this happen,” Gurney said. “Last year, we had a problem with street signs being taken. This year it is the wheel covers.”

Gurney said the caps are being taken off of the Rav 4 spare tires while the cars are parked either in driveways or on the street.

The police department is recommending owners park the cars in garages or remove spare tire covers overnight to avoid the thefts.
