Ramsey Answers The Call, Approves $15 Million Emergency Services Complex

RAMSEY, NJ — Ramsey is moving ahead with a new home for three of its emergency services after the Borough Council approved $15.05 million for construction Wednesday.

The complex will bring the Fire Department, Rescue Squad and Office of Emergency Management together in one facility, according to the borough’s bond ordinance.

The funding includes a $720,000 down payment and authorizes Ramsey to issue up to $14.33 million in bonds or bond anticipation notes. Another $200,000 is budgeted for costs including architectural, engineering, inspection, accounting and legal work.

Council members approved the measure following a hearing during Wednesday’s meeting, drawing applause from members of the public in attendance. The borough describes the work as the “construction phase” of the project, although the ordinance does not provide a completion date.
