Ramsey Assistant Superintendent Honored With Distinguished Service Award

Robert Marcotulli has been working in the district for 38 years

Ramsey School District Assistant Superintendent/Business Administrator, Robert Marcotulli, has been honored by the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials (NJASBO) with a Distinguished Service Award for his long-term, continuous exemplary service.

Marcotulli has served the Ramsey School District for 38 years. In 2002, he was named Assistant Superintendent/Business Administrator; from 1987 until 2001, he was the District’s Business Administrator. Marcotulli has been the Board Secretary since 1987. A graduate of Montclair State College with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, Marcotulli began his career as a teacher in the school district in 1975.    

In nominating Marcotulli for the Distinguished Service Award, Douglas Barrett, President of the Bergen County Association of School Business Officials said, “Mr. Marcotulli’s expertise in technology, facilities, public contracting and construction, along with his calm and confident demeanor, have made him a natural leader in Bergen County.”

As recipient of the Distinguished Service Award, Marcotulli had the honor of selecting graduating Senior Erin Boyd to receive a $1,000 scholarship check in his name.  Erin will pursue a degree in Business at Penn State University this fall.

In addition to being a member of NJASBO, Marcotulli also is a member of the Bergen County ASBO, ASBO International, Bergen County School Boards Association, and the New Jersey School Boards Association. He also is a member of the board of trustees for the School Alliance Insurance Fund, as well as other insurance boards.

Marcotulli and his wife of 30 years, Ruth, live in Ramsey and are the proud parents of three daughters, all graduates of the Ramsey Schools.  

The New Jersey Association of School Business Officials (NJASBO) is a professional association that promotes the highest standards of ethics and efficiency, provides its membership with professional development and support, and collaborates with entities that affect public education. The organization is comprised of individuals who administer or supervise a variety of operations within the school district.  Examples include accounting, budgeting, data processing, environmental issues, food service management, maintenance, negotiations, payroll, purchasing and transportation.
