Controversial Gun Range Application Starts Up Again Soon
Parking and environmental issues have been at the forefront of The Screaming Eagle Club's application before the Planning Board.

RAMSEY, NJ — The controversial Screaming Eagle Club's gun range application will pick back up at the Aug. 15 Planning Board meeting.
The application was re-scheduled to this month at the board's June 20 meeting.
The 60,000-square-foot business would have 67 firing stalls, a restaurant, retail space, locker rooms and a game room.

Pennsylvania developer Peter Cuttone said that no other gun range in New Jersey would match Screaming Eagle's size and scope, NorthJersey.com reported.
The only other gun range in North Jersey is Gun For Hire in Woodland Park and it is only 16,000 square feet, but work began on a 55,000-square-foot expansion last year, according to the NorthJersey.com report.

The application has been the center of controversy since it was introduced in January.
Petitions for and against its approval have been created. The Borough Council introduced an ordinance that would essentially block the range from coming to town by banning the use of firearms in the borough. The ordinance was tabled more than once.
The New Jersey Second Amendment Society threatened to sue the township if the ordinance is approved.
The Aug. 15 Planning Board meeting is 7:30 p.m. in the council chamber at Borough Hall.
