Ramsey Honors Firefighters for Hurricane Sandy Response
The recognition came a week after borough officials recognized the response of the Ramsey Police Department

Members of the Ramsey Fire Department were honored for what borough officials called ‘bravery’ and ‘selflessness’ during their response to Superstorm Sandy last November. At a borough council meeting Wednesday night, Mayor Chris Botta and Councilwoman Deirdre Dillon handed out commendations to firefighters who responded to over 100 calls the night of the storm, and about 40-50 in the week following.
Ramsey Fire Chief Randy Sterbinsky recognized two borough firefighters in particular - Nick Krazit and Greg Duncan, who were in a fire truck that got crushed by a tree during the storm.
“The [most significant] thing is that they got out, and continued to do their work, they continued to give to the town,” Sterbinsky said. The chief called their act a true show of dedication to volunteerism in the borough.
