Ramsey Man Injured Mahwah ATV Crash: Report

Men had been 'four-wheeling' when they hit a tree and were thrown from the vehicle, the report said.

Two men who were “four-wheeling” in Mahwah early Sunday morning and thrown from an all-terrain vehicle were taken to the hospital, police said.

Mahwah police received a 911 call reporting the accident in a wooded and secluded area off of Stag Hill Road, Lt. Philip Tangel told The Record.

The ATV reportedly hit a tree, the men were thrown from it, and the ATV and flipped over, police reported.

The driver, MIchael Altunyan, 21, of Ramsey, was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center in stable condition; the passenger, Scott Kraus, 30, of Tenafly, was taken to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Suffern, N.Y., also in stable condition, according to the report.

Altunyan, who was bleeding and unconscious, was taken to HUMC via a Medevac helicopter, the report stated. Kraus was taken to Good Samaritan via ambulance.
