Ramsey Parents Are Chairpersons Of Local Buddy Walk Saturday

William and Jennifer Burns are honorary chairpersons of the Wyckoff Family YMCA's Buddy Walk. Their daughter, Shannon, has Down Syndrome.

RAMSEY, N.J. — A local charity walk to help children with Down Syndrome is being chaired by a husband and wife who have spent a lot of time advocating for children with special needs.

The Wyckoff Family YMCA's Buddy Walk helps fund the New Jersey Special Olympics and programs for special needs children at the Y.

The parents of a little girl with Down Syndrome, William and Jennifer Burns, of Ramsey, are the honorary chairpersons of the event this year. Their daughter, Shannon, was diagnosed with the condition six months before she was born.

The Burnses have received "amazing" support from the Billy's Buddies group.

The Burns' team, Shannon's Family of Faith, has raised more than $40,000 in the past two years through the walk.
