Ramsey Police Investigating 'Suspicious' Incident Involving 14-Year-Old Boy

Breaking: A 50- to 60-year-old man asked a boy walking on North Central Avenue Tuesday if he needed a ride, police said.

RAMSEY, N.J. — The police department is investigating a suspicious incident involving a 14-year-old boy that occurred Tuesday.

The boy was walking south on North Central Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. when a man driving a white Ford Explorer asked him if he needed a ride, said Chief Bryan Gurney. The man told the boy he was a coach at Ramsey High School. The boy went home and told his mother about what happened who notified police at about 8 p.m., the chief said.

The man does not match the description of any high school coach, Gurney said Wednesday afternoon.
