Ramsey Rescue Squad on 48-Hour Mission at the Jersey Shore

Nine members were dispatched to help South Jersey recover from Hurricane Sandy

Friday, nine members of the Ramsey Rescue Squad were dispatched to the Jersey Shore. The group was told to take with it enough supplies to be completely self-sustained for 48-hours.

“There is some pretty hairy stuff going on down here,” Rescue member Erik Endress told Patch Friday. “The National Guard has been called in, so much has been destroyed that needs to be cleaned up, they are still searching for bodies. We’re expecting to assist in any of those efforts.”

The Ramsey volunteers are part of the Northwest Bergen Mutual Aid Association, who sent a task force to the shore to help the Barrier Islands recover from Hurricane Sandy. The nine Ramsey members were part of a 60-member force that included firefighters from Westwood, River Vale and Upper Saddle River. The group met in Toms River Friday before being called into the Barrier Islands for a 48-hour mission.
