Ramsey Sergeant Charged With DUI In Park Ridge

Vasili Pieratos, 43, crashed his Mercedes Benz into a tree early Wednesday morning.

RAMSEY, NJ — A sergeant with the Ramsey Police Department was charged with driving under the influence after crashing his car in Park Ridge Wednesday.

Vasili Pieratos, 43, of Mahwah, crashed a 2016 Mercedes Benz E350 around 3:15 a.m. on Kinderkamack Road near Highland Street, a Park Ridge Police Department crash investigation report states.

Pieratos is a tour commander with the Ramsey Police Department.

Pieratos tried to negotiate a turn, jumped a curb in front of 62 Kinderkamack Road and sideswiped a tree before flipping the Mercedes flipped over.

Pieratos' blood alcohol concentration allegedly was 0.19 percent — more than twice the legal limit — the report states.

Another Ramsey police officer was allegedly in the car with Pieratos when the crash occurred, according to an NJ.com report.

Park Ridge Police Capt. Joseph Rampolla and Ramsey Police Chief Bryan Gurney could not immediately be reached for comment.
