Ramsey Superintendent Named One Of Best In The State

Matthew Murphy was named superintendent of the year by the New Jersey Association of School Administrators.

Ramsey Public School District Superintendent Dr. Matthew Murphy was named superintendent of the year for the Northern New Jersey region by the New Jersey Association of School Administrators.

During Murphy’s tenure, the Ramsey Public School District’s curriculum has been revised, advanced technology has been brought into classrooms, and employee performance assessments have been expanded.

“it is truly an honor to be recognized for dedication to the Ramsey School District,” Murphy said. “I realize how important it is for educators to give back to the community and make impactful connections with their students.”

Murphy was appointed Ramsey superintendent in 2013. He began in education career 25 years ago as a fifth-grade teacher in Wyckoff. He became assistant principal of Eisenhower Middle School in Wyckoff. He was superintendent in River Vale before taking the top spot in Ramsey.

It was the second time Murphy has been honored by a state-level organization. He was named principal of the year by the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association in 2006.
