Ramsey Team Two Rounds from Game Show Regional Finals

The Ramsey High School team has advanced to the fourth round of play on the MSG Varsity quiz show, 'The Challenge,'

A team of students from Ramsey High School is getting closer and closer to TV game show victory. The RHS team has moved on to the fourth round of the MSG Varsity game show, “The Challenge,” and will take on Ridgewood High School in an episode set to air next Thursday, May 23, the network announced in a release this month.

In total, six teams from New Jersey and others from across the tri-state area are heading into the fourth round of Regional play.

Ramsey is two rounds away from the Regional finals. If it wins that, the team will qualify for the Tri-State Championships, which is three rounds long.

The team got to the fourth round by beating out teams from Hawthorne High School, Eastern Christian High School, and the Frisch School.

The Ramsey team – made up of students Alex Zammitti, Derek Nelson, Kate Diamond, Kevin Sroczynski and alternate Spencer Lambert – filmed the Round Four episode earlier this year, but for now the results are under wraps.

The show’s current elimination rounds will continue until Regional Champions are crowned. Each champ picks up $2,500 for the team’s school. The show’s ultimate winner takes home $10K in prizes and $500 for each participant.

When the Ramsey students started competing on the show late last year, they told Patch they were excited for the opportunities to test their trivia knowledge, and be on TV.

According to a release from the game show, 192 schools competed this season.
