Smashburger Giving Free Burgers To 'Bergers' Tuesday

Promotion is in celebration of National Cheeseburger Day

Tuesday is National Cheeseburger Day. Ramsey’s Smashburger restaurant is celebrating with a quirky promotion that will score some residents a free meal.

According to a release from the restaurant, locals with variations of “burger” – such as Hamburger, Berger, etc. – in their names will receive one free Smashburger signature recipe, or create your own, burger in recognition of the carnivorous holiday.

The release says there are about 556 people in the state who qualify. And, yes, proof of the “burger” name via a license or other form of ID is required to snag the free meal.

According to Scott Gillman, CEO of Mascott Corporation, which owns 10 Smashburger locations throughout northern New Jersey, the Burgers for Bergers promotion is all about fun.

“We are really involved in the community, and we knew we wanted to have some fun with this,” Gillman told Patch. “Our non-burger guests will have the same great food and guest experience they always do, and this is just some added fun.

The Ramsey Smashburger opened on Route 17 in February. Gillman said another is planned to open in Parsippany on Sept. 27, and another in East Brunswick by early next year.

“Our plan is to open four [new locations] every year for the foreseeable future,” he said. Ramsey is “a great location for us. There are a lot of great families here, it’s an involved community, and there’s a big daytime population and traffic on Route 17. The whole thing [in Ramsey] worked out really well for us.”
