State Aid to Ramsey Remains Flat for 2013

The amount of money Ramsey will receive from Trenton this year is the same it got last year, the state Department of Community Affairs announced this week.

Ramsey is slated to receive $1,474,471 in state aid, which local government officials said they anticipated.

“We assumed state aid would remain flat this year when putting together the 2013 budget,” Councilwoman Vanessa Jachzel said at a recent council meeting.

According to a DCA release, the aid to every town in Bergen County will remain flat in 2013.

“This preserved funding means no town in Bergen County will see a decrease in formula municipal aid for the upcoming year,” Christie said in the release. “It also demonstrates that providing stable, predictable levels of municipal aid to support local governments and taxpayers is a core priority of my Administration.”

Using the flat state aid figure, government officials are planning to introduce the borough’s 2013 operating budget at a meeting March 13. The budget calls for a 1.89% municipal tax increase.
