Suicidal Man Loses Arm, Runs Several Blocks After Being Struck By A Train In Hackensack: Report

Police tracked the man by following a trail of blood, the report states.

A suicidal man lost his arm after he was his by a NJ Transit train in Hackensack Tuesday night, The Record reported.

Police tracked the man by following a trail of blood about four blocks away where he reportedly told officers he tried to kill himself, Hackensack police said in the report. The incident took place at about 10:15 p.m.

The man, and his severed arm, were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for evaluation, the report states.

The man was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center, and his severed arm was taken to the same hospital for evaluation.

A NJ Transit spokeswoman said the train started its run out of Hoboken at 9:43 p.m. with about 200 passengers aboard, the report says.
