Suspect Dead, 3 in Custody After Alleged Break-In of Paramus Business

The four New York men are believed to have broken into a Paramus business and struck a police officer with their vehicle.

One suspect is dead and three are in police custody after an alleged break-in of a Paramus business.

Paramus police officers responded to an activated commercial burglar alarm shortly after 4: 30 a.m. Wednesday morning at 255 Rt. 4 West and upon arrival, saw the business’ rear door had been pried open, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.

An officer then went out to the parking lot and encountered the suspect vehicle, which was occupied by four New York males.

When the officer approached the vehicle, the driver accelerated, struck the officer and caused him to land on the hood of the suspect vehicle, a 2015 grey Kia K900 bearing NY registration GRV9396.

The officer then fired his weapon multiple times and struck the driver as the suspect vehicle traveled westbound onto Route 4 at a high speed. Failing to negotiate the turn, the driver, identified as Miguel Reyes, 20, of Manhattan, crashed into the center divider on Route 4, exited the vehicle and fled across Route 4 Eastbound.

Reyes was apprehended by River Edge police officers in the area of Route 4 and was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 5:45 a.m.

Three other suspects were apprehended at the scene. They are identified as Nico Vega, 25, of the Bronx, Josue Felix, 21, of Manhattan and Hector Felix, 24, of Manhattan.

Vega and Hector Felix are in custody and charges are pending. Josue Felix is in custody but is currently receiving treatment at an area hospital for injury to his index finger.

Charges are pending in this matter and the investigation will continue. Pursuant to Attorney General Guidelines, the matter is being investigated by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Shooting Response Team. Upon completion of the investigation, the Prosecutor’s Office will determine whether the matter should be presented to a Grand Jury.
