Trap Set For Bear After Alleged Encounter With Boy: Report
Child may have been scratched or cut by a bear Saturday in Oakland.

State wildlife officials have set a trap for a bear that a 7-year-old boy may have come into contact with Saturday, NJ.com reported.
The state Department of Environmental Protection is investigating a reported encounter between the animal and child near Skyline Drive in Oakland, the report states, citing a DEP spokeswoman.
The had marks on his body that could be scratches or cuts, but they may have come from thorns, although officials haven’t confirmed they weren’t from a bear, according to the report.

A culvert trap, a barrel-shaped trap with a bait bag has been placed in Ramapo Mountain State Forest, where the boy reported seeing the bear, the report states.
