Authorities have identified the woman who died when a tree fell on her in New Milford Wednesday morning.
Authorities believe Michelle Mian, 21, was walking to her car when a large maple tree split in half and fell on top of her, killing her, NorthJersey.com reported.
Authorities believe the tree split in half due to damage it sustained during the storm that hit the area overnight, according to the report.

Mian’s sister Tabish reportedly found her on the ground and called for help.
“If you met her, you would have known how beautiful, artistic, talented — she’s the kindest person you’ll ever meet,” Tabish told the website. “She’s amazing in so many ways. It’s not fair that she’s not here with us right now. It’s really not.”

Authorities believe the tree broke between 6:30 and 7:40 a.m., according to Cliffviewpilot.com.
The woman was a graduate of Bergenfield High School, Class of 2012 and was attending Bergen Community College, Cliffviewpilot reported. Mian also worked as a intern at Holy Name Medical Center.
Bergenfield High School Principal Jim Fasano said that everyone at the school was “stunned and shocked” at the news of Mian’s sudden death.
