The contest will be harvest/Fall themed. Each entrant will get $10 in food tickets for participating, and the top three competitors will be given prizes. Local chefs will judge the competition based on appearance, taste and creativity, and the top finisher will win a pair of tickets to the Greater Ramsey UNICO's Charity di Vino, North Jersey’s largest wine tasting event. The tickets, donated by UNICO, are worth $180.
Local groups like Ramsey's Cub Scout Pack 306, who will be selling soda and water, Ramsey Girl Scout Troop 912, St. Paul's Confirmation Candidates, Farmers Market Committee volunteers, members of the Tau Delta fraternity and Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority from Ramapo College, will be volunteering to help run the event.
It is happening under a tent at the station, and runs Sunday, rain or shine.
‘Taste of Ramsey’ started in 2008 as part of the borough’s Centennial celebration. Since then, it has become a way to, “help promote Ramsey's unique restaurants and catering establishments, while providing a fun afternoon for the whole family,” Jachzel said.
