Why Can't You Change Your Health Habits?
Most people put a mental limitation on their capabilities.

Why do so many people fail to keep their New Year’s Resolutions? This often happens because they don’t truly believe that they can accomplish those preconceived goals. Their resolutions were only “wishful thinking”. This includes improved health habits, which are for many of us, part or all of our New Year’s Resolutions.
The #1 thing that’s probably preventing you from changing your health habits is your own mind.
Many Americans are striving to be healthier. A 2013 survey revealed that 57% of U.S. adults are concerned with eating a healthier diet, 54% want to maintain a healthy weight and 45% are trying to reduce stress in their lives.

Yet despite these good intentions, less than one-third of Americans are at a healthy weight and most are not eating healthy either. The latest data show that nearly 23% of Americans report consuming vegetables and fruits less than one time daily!
Most of us believe that many goals are beyond our grasp, but the power and limitations of the human mind and soul have never been fully measured or defined. Many people throughout history have accomplished almost impossible things because they believed that they could. That may have been their greatest advantage, their belief in themselves.

When we have no goals or direction in life, we don’t look forward to tomorrow on a daily basis, but simply exist, drifting with the tides of time.
Recognizing and letting go of limiting beliefs allows you to reach your full health goals, as well as life goals.
A good approach is to assess where you want to be and then set a realistic time goal as how long it will take to get there. Then set up short term and long term action steps, in order to accomplish your goal.
Depending on your progress, it is important to tweak those action steps along your journey.
It is also helpful to have a “coach”. This can be a friend with a similar goal, a family member, a co-worker, your doctor, a personal trainer, a nutritionist, or anyone that you can trust to help you along your path. The coach can encourage you and depending on their level of knowledge, guide you along your path.
It is amazing what you can accomplish, once you are focused on a goal and believe in yourself, as well as your abilities to succeed.
Good luck on any quest that you set your mind to!
