RANDOLPH, NJ — Randolph Township is partnering with LEW Environmental Services to help ensure compliance with New Jersey’s Lead Safe Certification Law.
Township officials are encouraging landlords to contact LEW Environmental Services to prepare for required inspections.
Under the state law, certain rental properties in Randolph must undergo a visual inspection for lead hazards by June 30.
Property owners who received a notice or own rental housing in Randolph are advised to determine whether their property requires a lead-based paint inspection.
New Jersey’s Lead Safe Certification Act was signed by former Governor Phi; Murphy in 2021.
The new law intends to prevent childhood lead poisoning due to deteriorated paint in rental homes by requiring periodic inspections for lead hazards.
Rental properties located in Randolph Township, built before 1978 are required to have a visual inspection to assess for lead hazards.
The cost for inspection is $250.00 per unit plus an additional fee of $20 per unit which goes to the Lead Hazard Control Assistance Act Fund, according to LEW Environmental Services.
For more information, property owners can call LEW Environmental Services at 908-654-8068.
