Randolph Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Sept. 26: What Residents Need To Know Before Going

RANDOLPH, NJ — Morris County residents have one week to gather eligible household hazardous waste for a drop-off event in Randolph, offering a chance to dispose of everything from automotive fluids and household cleaning products to oil-based paints, pesticides and pool chemicals.

The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at County College of Morris, Parking Lot No. 9, 214 Center Grove Road, according to a Randolph Township notice. The revised 2026 event flyer specifically says the CCM event was moved to Lot #9.

Acceptable materials are aerosol cans; asbestos, with a 100-pound maximum, wetted, double bagged and taped; automotive fluids; driveway sealant and roofing tar; fire extinguishers; gasoline, kerosene and diesel fuel; household cleaning products; lead acid, button cell, lithium-ion and rechargeable batteries; mercury-containing bulbs and devices; muriatic acid; oil-based paints, stains, lacquers and varnishes; paint thinners, removers and solvents; pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers; photo chemicals; pool chemicals; and propane tanks of 20 pounds or less.

Unacceptable materials are alkaline and carbon zinc batteries; business waste; compressed gas cylinders; containers larger than 5 gallons; empty containers; explosives; household hazardous waste generated outside Morris County; highly reactive and unstable materials; medical waste and sharps; radioactive materials; smoke and carbon monoxide detectors; unknown and unlabeled materials; used consumer electronics, or e-waste; and water-based, latex and acrylic paint. The flyer says latex paint should be dried and disposed of in regular trash.

Residents must show proof of a Morris County address, and commercial vehicles are not permitted at the event.
