500 Heroin Decks Seized After Man Runs From Red Bank Motor Vehicle Stop: Police
Breaking: A police officer chased him and caught him in the NJ Transit yard; a K9 tracked down the bag the man dropped along the way.

RED BANK, NJ — A Long Branch man who tried to run from a motor vehicle stop is facing multiple drug charges after police found him carrying Xanax, heroin and seven large bags of marijuana, police said.
Red Bank police said Patrolman Stan Balmer had stopped a vehicle on Oakland Street about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday for a traffic violation when a rear-seat passenger, Jahvon Wells, 30, of Long Branch, jumped out of the car and ran, carrying a black bag.
While Balmer stayed with the car and its other occupants, Patrolman Matt Ehrenreich gave chase and caught Wells, who had dropped the bag along the way, in the NJ Transit yard, police said. Balmer then had K9 Hunter track Wells' path to find the bag, police said.

When it was located, police found the bag contained 500 decks of heroin and seven large bags of marijuana, police said. Additionally, police found 81 Xanax bars in his possession for which Wells did not have a valid prescription, police said.
Wells has been charged with three counts each of possession of CDS, possession of CDS with intent to distribute, and possession with intent to distribute in a school zone. Additionally he was charged with resisting arrest by flight and trespassing. Wells is being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
