Health & Fitness

Always put on your own oxygen mask first

A few weeks ago, I got into a small car smash up...not really serious, just a minor rear ending by a truck.  My first thought was that I was in my son's car, my friend was with me, so much worry.  We seemed fine, no injuries to us, just some body work to the car...until about a week later.  My back started spasming, my neck aching, and the dizziness-ugh!!!
Now if a friend or a client would have come to me with this story, I would have immediately told them to come get a massage, see the acupuncturist and or chiro...but when it comes to me (as so many women do, and especially moms), I just kept swimming...just kept moving and working.  So when the dizzy set in I decided I needed to hit this with all barrels...I called my friend/boss Heather Poole Smith and got some acupuncture, called an energy healer I know for some distance healing, and got some massages (I am lucky that I have "friends in the biz"), and I knew that this multidisciplinary approach would be what I needed.  So often we neglect our own health, our own rest and relaxation, but in truth, it is what makes us able to care for others, and to truly keep swimming.  I know that in my life this balance of work, fun and personal rest has been a struggle...a constant attempt at balance, and at 46 I am still working on it-perhaps it is a life long study. So I encourage you to take good care of yourself, and make time for the rest you, and we all need.  For the next few days, I am away, on a much needed break with a good friend and her adorable kids at the beach, sun, fun, beach bar, art projects, yoga....Follow our lead, take some time off occasionally.  But when I return I will be offering massages to go along with your acupuncture treatments at Ancient Arts Acupuncture in Red Bank NJ.  I know from experience that this works! Message me for details and if you have never tried acupuncture this is a good time to try.
