Once first responders arrived, crews encountered heavy fire at the home and deployed 1.5” and 2.5” handlines to bring the fire under control.

Due to the swift and coordinated efforts of all responders, the incident was contained to the back of the home with no extension to neighboring homes and no injuries to any occupants or first responders, the fire company said.

The Red Cross New Jersey also responded to the incident, and is assisting three people with emergency assistance for temporary lodging, food, clothing and other immediate needs.

Disaster health and disaster mental health are also available, the Red Cross said.

Shrewsbury Hose Company #1 extended their “sincere thanks to our mutual aid partners who responded and supported operations on scene.”

These mutual aid partners included the Shrewsbury Police Department, Shrewsbury First Aid Squad, Shrewsbury Borough Fire Marshal, Monmouth County Fire Marshal's Office, Monmouth County Fire Coordinators, Eatontown Fire Department, Wayside Fire Company, Oceanport Fire Department, Sea Bright Fire & Rescue, Glendola Fire Company, Fair Haven Fire Department, Red Bank Fire Department, and the American Red Cross.

“We also want to recognize and thank the firefighter from Holmdel Fire & Rescue who stopped to assist in establishing a water supply on Patterson Avenue, providing critical suppression capacity to the C side of the structure,” the fire company said.

“Incidents like this highlight the strength of mutual aid and the dedication of our first responders. We are grateful for the teamwork, professionalism, and commitment to protecting our community.”
