RED BANK, NJ — The Red Bank community has rallied around a local family forced from their home during an early morning fire on Thursday.
At 2:33 a.m., all Red Bank units, alongside other local fire departments and EMS, responded to a home on Chestnut Street for a report of a structure fire/box alarm.
As a result of this fire, nine people in two families were forced from the home, and received emergency assistance from the Red Cross New Jersey.
An online fundraiser has since been launched to help one of the families cover temporary housing, clothes, food, moving expenses and more in the wake of the fire.
"The Campos Family has proudly called Red Bank home for over 14 years," fund organizers said. "They are a loving family of five who have built their lives, memories, and sense of home in our community."
"In the early morning hours...tragedy struck when a devastating house fire on Chestnut Street in Red Bank forced the family to flee their home," the organizers continued. "In just a matter of moments, they lost the place they had called home for over 14 years."
While the family, alongside their two dogs, made it out of the home safely, they are now faced with the reality of starting their home over from scratch.
Donations made to the GoFundMe will help cover temporary housing, clothing, food, everyday essentials, moving expenses, and "the many unexpected costs that come with rebuilding their lives after such a devastating loss," organizers said.
As of Monday afternoon, $1,810 of the fundraiser's $9,000 goal has been raised.
"No donation is too small, and every act of kindness makes a difference," fund organizers said. "If you're unable to donate, we kindly ask that you share this fundraiser with your family and friends. Your support can help this wonderful family begin to rebuild and find hope during one of the most difficult moments of their lives."
