Red Bank Students Earn 2nd Place At National Competition

RED BANK, NJ — Four students from Red Bank Charter School earned second place in the 2026 Capitol Hill Challenge, the Board of County Commissioners recently announced.

Riley Regina, Sofia Morales-Santamaria, David Tiro and Jack Young placed in the national competition, which aims to introduce young people to investing, capital markets and long-term financial decision-making through hands-on learning.

As part of the competition, the students had the opportunity to learn about investing, capital markets, and financial decision-making while managing a hypothetical $100,000 portfolio of stocks, bonds, mutual funds and cash.

The seventh-graders competed alongside 7,300 middle and high school students from across the country.

"Their success is a great example of what students can accomplish when they have the opportunity to put what they learn into practice," Commissioner Erik Anderson said.

The students' success in the challenge not only demonstrates their academic abilities, but also their "critical thinking, teamwork and perseverance," Commissioner Director Thomas Arnone added.

"We are proud to recognize these students and celebrate their achievement on the national stage," Arnone said.
