Pedestrian Injured After Being Hit By An SUV, NJ State Police Say

The crash occurred Tuesday afternoon after the person ran onto the road to retrieve a bicycle and was hit by a Volkswagen SUV, police said.

TINTON FALLS, NJ — A pedestrian was injured Tuesday afternoon after they ran onto the road to retrieve a bike and was hit by an SUV, NJ State Police told Patch.

At 12:47 p.m. on Tuesday, troopers responded to the crash on the Garden State Parkway north at milepost 103.2 in Tinton Falls.

Based on a preliminary investigation, police said a Volkswagen SUV was going northbound on the parkway when, in the area of milepost 103.2, a pedestrian ran onto the roadway to retrieve a bicycle and was then struck by the Volkswagen.

As a result of the crash, the pedestrian sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was brought to an area hospital, police said.

Authorities have not released the identities of those involved in the crash.

No other injuries were reported, and the crash remains under investigation.

As of Tuesday evening, police said no additional information on the incident is available.
