NJ Man Dies In Garden State Parkway Crash, State Police Say

The man was going south on the parkway when his vehicle hit the guardrail, ran off the road and struck a tree, police said.

TINTON FALLS, NJ — A New Jersey man has died following a crash on the Garden State Parkway on Thursday evening, NJ State Police Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron told Patch.

At 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash on the parkway south at milepost 103.1 in Tinton Falls.

Based on a preliminary investigation, authorities found that a Nissan SUV, driven by Mark Edgell, 57, of Toms River, was going southbound on the GSP.

In the area of milepost 103.1, Lebron said the Nissan hit the guardrail, ran off the road to the left and struck a tree.

As a result of the crash, Edgell sustained fatal injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

As of Friday morning, no additional information was available.
