Antique Car Show Welcomes Car Buffs, History Buffs
The event at the Parker Homestead-1665 in Little Silver is free but aims to raise funds for restoration of the home.
LITTLE SILVER, NJ — History buffs and car fanatics are invited to indulge their love of all things historic at an antique car show set to be held at the Parker Homestead-1665.
The event, jointly hosted by the homestead and the Antique Motoring Club of Monmouth County, is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and it is free. The hosts and participants hope attendees will make donations to the ongoing restoration of Parker Homestead, one of the oldest homes in America.
Parker Homestead is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.

The Homestead is on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places. The Parker Homestead is considered one of the oldest dwellings still standing in New Jersey.
The homestead was settled by brothers Joseph and Peter Parker in 1665 and remained in family hands for 330 years and eight generations until 1995, when Julia Parker died and deeded the property to the borough of Little Silver. Julia Parker stipulated that the homestead be preserved as a historic landmark and used for historic educational purposes.

The Parker Homestead-1665 Inc. received its charitable 501(c)3 designation in 2014 and work has been underway to preserve the homestead.
Restoration to the first floor of the home is nearly complete, and renovations and stabilization work has recently been completed to the three barns.
The rain date for the show is Sunday, Sept. 25.
