April is National Donate Life Month
On Wednesday, April 10, 2019 Mayor Pasquale Menna and the Red Bank Borough Council proclaimed April as Donate Life Month in Red Bank. Accepting the presentation were Denise Ely of Red Bank who is a transplant recipient. In fact, she had her transplant 22 years ago from a 67-year-old donor from Texas. The miracle of donation has enabled her to enjoy LIFE! Also accepting the Proclamation are Lisa Luisi of Middletown, and Jackie Patterson of Red Bank, who are advocating for the NJ Sharing Network.
The NJ Sharing Network, located in New Providence, is the non-profit organization responsible for the recovery and placement of donated organs and tissue for those in need of a life-saving transplant. Nearly 4,000 New Jersey residents are currently awaiting transplantation. They are also part of the national recovery system, which is in place for the 115,000 people on the national waiting list. In fact, there are 3 people awaiting needed organs in Red Bank alone. Register today on the NJ drivers license, on the iPhone Health app, or at https://www.donatelife.net/register/ .
