The Basie Awards, the annual celebration of Monmouth County high school theater will return to the Basie Center stage.
RED BANK, NJ — The Basie Awards, a Bank of America-sponsored annual celebration of Monmouth County high school theater, will return to the Basie Center stage after being virtual for the past two years.
The award ceremony is set for Wednesday, May 25, and tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 22nd, both online and at the Basie Center box office, 99 Monmouth Street, Red Bank.
“One of the greatest nights of the year at the Basie Center is when we gather to celebrate our region’s high school productions,” said Adam Philipson, President / CEO, Count Basie Center for the Arts.

Philipson said that while the switch to virtual ceremonies was necessary “nothing showcases the hard work of the schools, actors and administrators than the live experience of theater.”
The Basie Awards, modeled after the TONY Awards, evaluate musical and drama productions in high schools throughout Monmouth County. This year's Baise nomination committee evaluated 16 dramas and 23 musical performances.
