Movie Review: 'Trance'

Trance is a steamy, heist film with the most interesting of characters and story twists and turns.

I'm not sure where to start on this review but, "Oh, my wow!" First of all, any Danny Boyle film (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, Trainspotting) totally locks me in. So I thought it would unique and engaging ... hello - yes!!!

This was a fascinating "heist" movie about the stealing of an iconic Goya painting and the supposed loss of memory by an inside employee "thief" (James McAvoy). To unlock his possible memory loss (from a head injury), he was sent to a hypnotist (the sultry Rosario Dawson) by his fellow crooks.

Then the movie takes really complicated and fun. Present day, flashback, memory loss, blurred interactions, multi-faceted relationships and folks this film is just captivating and engaging.

I'm generally a prude in my life and in the types of movies I like, but Rosario Dawson (who first took my wind away singing in Rent), was "so steamy and hate to say hot" in this role and a not so innocent hypnotist (with her hair pulled in a bun, shirt buttoned up to the top button and intellectual looking, dark framed glasses). She is so intriguing and smart and was like a puppeteer pulling everybody's string (of all the other characters) .

This movie was very complicated and candidly I need to see it again if I want to understand it all. However, I don't feel disappointed or angry. I was really entertained and don't feel that I missed that much.
