Bruce Perlmutter, Woodturner, Exhibits @ American Fine Craft Show

Perlmutter joins 89 artisans & fine artists @ the Brooklyn Museum's Beaux-Arts Court for a handsome show of American made work Nov. 18-19

Red Bank-based woodturner Bruce Perlmutter, joins 89 other artisans and artists at the fifth American Fine Craft Show at the Brooklyn Museum November 18-19, 2017.

He wrote: “My dad was a woodworker and taught me some basics of woodturning when I was young. But it wasn’t until the 1990’s when I bought my first lathe and a few tools that I began to make bowls. They were thick-walled and boxy at first, but I found the process was exciting. I collaborate with my wife, Jill Uma, who added the color and pyrography to the piece that illustrates this post.

"It has been an enjoyable and rewarding learning experience since then, attending demonstrations and symposia, viewing new skills and observing the work of others. Now, as a member of the American Association of Woodturners and the Jersey Shore Woodturners, I mentor less experienced turners in the techniques that others have taught me while I continue my own turning and learning."
