RED BANK, NJ — A burst pipe has led to an emergency closure of Red Bank Regional High School, Superintendent Louis B. Moore said.

On Sunday, Moore said a burst pipe caused damage to a significant number of classrooms and other spaces in the school’s main building, which require immediate remediation and repair.

The scope of this work mandates the use of industrial drying equipment, air movers, and dehumidifiers that generate elevated noise levels and limit access to the impacted areas, Moore said.

While this work is being done, district officials said the presence of students and staff would pose safety concerns and limit the effectiveness of remediation efforts.

“Red Bank Regional administrators and maintenance staff, alongside qualified mitigation experts, continue to work diligently to resume normal school operations as soon as possible,” Moore said. “In compliance with Department of Education guidelines, Red Bank Regional will remain closed on Wednesday, February 11.”

For Thursday (Feb. 12) and Friday (Feb. 13), the school will shift to remote learning, with the early dismissal schedule for Friday continuing as planned, Moore said.

The district plans to update the community further on Friday afternoon on whether further remote instruction will be needed for the week of February 17th, when school resumes after the President's Day holiday.

As of Wednesday, the district anticipates that the current district calendar will remain unchanged.

An updated remote instruction plan (which can be found here) has information on class schedules, technology assistance and student support services.

While repairs are being done, athletics will continue with minor schedule changes and coaches will communicate any changes through their usual channels.

Students and families can use the regular communication process to address concerns and ask questions.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as we work to resume normal building operations as quickly as possible,” Moore said.
