Chili Cook Off & St. Patricks Parade Fundraiser In Highlands

Beat the cold at the 10th annual chili cook-off on Sunday Feb. 27.

RUMSON, NJ — This weekend marks the 10th annual Highlands Business Partnership's Chili Cook-off and St. Patrick's Parade Fundraiser.

The event will take place on Sunday, Feb. 27, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Proving Ground in Highlands. Along with the chili competition, bagpipe bands and Daly's Irish Dancers will perform. Admission is $35 and includes chili tastings, two beer tickets, and two voting ballots.

Two Chili Cook Off competitions will be held. The professional cook off will begin promptly at 4 p.m., followed by the amateur cook off at 5 p.m. After tasting all the contestants' chili, the chili lovers will be able to vote for their favorite and place their ballot in the ballot box. At 6 p.m., the results will be tallied and the winners will be announced. Each contest's winner will receive a prize.

In order to enter the chili contest, there is a $10 entry fee and you are required to pre-register and make a minimum of three pounds of chili. There will be chili tasting cups, spoons and napkins available. You must bring your own fixings, such as cheese, scallions, or any other garnish you wish to accompany your sample.
