Community Rallies To Lift Historic Boat House On Navesink River

RED BANK, NJ — Friends of the Monmouth Boat Club (MBC) has started a fundraiser to help lift the historic MBC Boat House in the wake of a nor'easter that ripped through the Jersey Shore over the weekend.

Starting late on Friday and running through Sunday, the September storm brought heavy rain, coastal flooding, and wind gusts of over 50 MPH to parts of New Jersey and rendered thousands of homes and businesses powerless.

On the Navesink River, the MBC Boat House was also partially submerged as flood waters rose along the coast.

Following the nor'easter, the Friends of Monmouth Boat Club started an online fundraiser to support the lifting of the boat house, which is susceptible to flooding and damage during storms.

The club is a collective commitment to preserving the boat house and the historical artifacts showcased within it.

The Monmouth Boat Club is recognized as a historic site by the National Register of Historic Places and one of New Jersey's 2025 ten most endangered historic places.

"Your support and involvement is key to ensuring the preservation of this time-capsule on the Navesink River," fundraiser organizers said.

The online fundraiser has a goal of $10,000. As of Monday afternoon, $200 has been raised.
