Do We Care Murphy Ate At 'Swanky' Restaurant During Nor'easter?
He worked while he was there, Murphy's spokesman said. He wasn't there for even an hour. He also bought food for state troopers.
Lots of griping has come Gov. Phil Murphy's way once again with the revelation that he ate at a swanky restaurant while commuters were embroiled in nor'easter hell on Thursday.
But a lot of people have also taken to social media to ask this question: Should we care?
The Murphy administration on Tuesday sought to dispel the idea that the governor was tone-deaf during one of the worst storms to hit New Jersey commuters in years – a revelation that perhaps conjures up images of the governor ignoring their pleas as he clinged glasses with the wealthy.

One of his spokespeople, Mahen Gunaratna, did confirm that Murphy grabbed a bite to eat at the bar at Restaurant Nicholas, a 4-star restaurant on Route 35 that's close to the governor's house in Red Bank.
But Murphy was there for less than an hour, and he worked while he was there, taking phone calls and having text exchanges with transportation and law enforcement officials the whole time. Murphy even reportedly bought food for state troopers who were busy with the storm.

Throughout the day, Murphy was stuck on the road for several hours during the storm. Earlier in the night, he held a conference call with cabinet officials on the storm response and visited the Statewide Traffic Management Center to monitor conditions, Gunaratna said.

After the news was revealed by Gannett NJ on Tueaday, Murphy found some allies – even as he continues to be ripped for his administration's lackluster response to the storm.
Some even thought the media was piling on and finding an opportunity for "clickbait" with the news that he dined at a "swanky" restaurant.
Murphy, however, had plenty of people who were angered by the revelation and believe it proves that the governor, who became wealthy while working in the financial world, is tone-deaf to New Jersey's problemms.
