Encaustic Demonstration with Professional Artist Lucy Kalian

Encaustic has a long history, dating back to the Egyptian Pharaohs and Early Greek ship builders.

Today’s encaustic, made with a melted and fused mixture of pigment, purified beeswax, and damar resin, is extremely versatile and durable.

During this Encaustic Overview demonstration, we will briefly cover some of the basic methods used in encaustic art.
We will touch on color mixing, transfers, opaque and transparent color layering, collage, line edges, and, if time allows, monoprints and paper dipping.

Each of these and additional methods will be explored more deeply in the upcoming workshop.

DATE: June 21
TIME: 12:00pm-2:00pm
COST: FREE!
